Born to devout followers of the Fist of Rhalgr, Aelina spent the majority of her childhood in Ala Mhigo, under the rule of King Theodoric. Despite increasing tensions between worshipers of Rhalgr and Nymeia, Aelina's parents made sure to shield their daughter from any fear.They never spoke of Theodoric's oppressive rule around her. Never told her about their fears for the future, or why they never decided to train her in traditional monk ways.It didn't make sense at the time. Why would her parents, proud warriors so in tune with their bodies, not want to raise her the same way?It wasn't until Theodoric's massacre upon the temple of the Fist of Rhalgr that she realized why.With her parents among countless others culled at the temple, Aelina became an orphan, like so many others, wandering the streets of Ala Mhigo. Survival was difficult. But she was hardy. Just as any Ala Mhigan was.Theodoric's rule didn't last much longer after that. With the fall of his rule came the fall of Ala Mhigo. The Garlean Empire had taken advantage of their political unrest, quickly sweeping in and capturing the city.Aelina was still young. Just a teen, then, but she knew that nothing good could come from this. If she didn't flee, she'd share the same fate as her parents. Perhaps even worse.If her parents' lifetime of devotion to the Destroyer still ended in death and eventual occupation, what could one do to protect themselves?There was no future in Ala Mhigo for her. So, she fled. Fled with so many other people. Gone was the homeland they once loved, replaced instead by a broken, stitched together replica, where they were barely tolerated. Little Ala Mhigo. Just as much a cruel joke as a place of refuge.Growing up was hard. Without the guidance of her parents, Aelina was forced to carve a place out in the world all on her own.There was litle room for variance, truthfully. Like her parents before her, and her parents' parents before her, mercenary work seemed to be all that the world wanted of Ala Mhigans.So as the years came and went, that was what Aelina did. As a teen, she could mostly get by with helping around Little Ala Mhigo. Simple tasks like moving cargo around or fetching water were enough to keep her fed.As she grew older, though, the patience and generosity of the other refugees seemed to wear off. She was an adult now, someone just as hungry and brokenhearted as everyone else in the settlement.Eventually, her mercenary work found her frequenting Ul'dah. She was competent enough. Not the best, though. Her parents, in their desire to spare her from Theodoric's iron fist, had failed to pass on their monk techniques. Instead of becoming a formidable warrior, Aelina was simply average.It was only by the grace of an eccentric, Ul'dahn merchant that her luck turned around.After hiring Aelina to escort and guard some cargo, the merchant, in typical Ul'dahn fashion, tried to worm his way out of paying her. Instead of the agreed upon amount of gil, she was presented with a kitten.Should she have bashed his head in for disrespecting her so blatantly? Yes. Would that have solved anything? No.And in spite of her difficult upbringing, Aelina still had a soft spot for baby animals. She'd been helpless once, too.So, with her new kitten companion in hand, she returned to finding work.Moons passed. What she thought was a kitten had ended up turning into a beast! Or, perhaps more accurately, a beloved companion that boosted her average strength and sanded down the edges of loneliness.

She's very forward and speaks her mind, even if it gets her into trouble sometimes.Underneath that brash exterior, though, is someone whose heart has remained soft. She's made a life out of contracted work, but deep inside, there's still that little girl that's scared and vulnerable.

Thankfully, that scared little girl now has a giant sabertooth to make some of her fears go away.

  • Looking to tame some beasts? While Aelina isn't officially trained in the Kornago way of beast taming, she has some experience with befriending wild beasts. If you need a beastly partner, she'd be more than happy to help.

  • Any Ala Mhigans here? Despite her city state gaining independence from Garlemald, Aelina has yet to return to her homeland. She's always eager to reminisce, or hear updates about how the place is faring. Even better if it's from a fellow Ala Mhigan.

  • Kitten stuck in a tree? Though normally prideful, Aelina has no problem helping out when it comes to animals and beasts. Whether that be something as simple as asking her to shear wool, or as complex as training an animal companion, Aelina is down for it all.

  • Wanna try some new food? Given Gyr Abania's arid climate, and her poor childhood, Aelina's culinary palate is quite limited. That doesn't mean she's afraid to try something new, though. She's always curious about other cuisines. The way to Aelina's heart is through her stomach!

I tend to gravitate towards more vanilla and romance RP, but I don't mind working with RP partners to find a good middle ground.I use Light, but I don't feel comfortable giving it out right away, so no hard feelings! Maybe after a couple RP sessions and rapport is built?Also I love abusing em-dashes in my writing. I promise it isn't a genAI thing T_T.Despite my interest in romantic RP, I'm not interested in anything IRL.
